The Susquehanna Stage Co. is located in historic Marietta, Pennsylvania. As a non-profit community organization, our mission is to celebrate, through theatrical performances, the common humanity binding us all together. We seek to create extraordinary theatre experiences that educate, challenge, inspire and serve the community and to be a community gathering place for active exchange about culture and the power of creativity. Our aim is to engage audiences of diverse ages, cultures and economic backgrounds through educational, intercultural and outreach programs.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is the governing body who is responsible for overseeing the non-profit organization’s activities for the Marietta Center for the Arts & Susquehanna Stage productions.  Take a minute to learn more about our team!

Kyle Brubaker

Chairman of the Board/Building Committee

Kyle grew up in Mount Joy and resides in Marietta, so his family roots run deep in Lancaster County. Kyle is the Senior Environmental Specialist & Environmental Manager for Navarro & Wright Consulting Engineers Inc., located in New Cumberland, PA. Kyle has been involved behind the scenes with Susquehanna Stage since the beginning and is excited to be part of its growth and development  to better serve Marietta and the surrounding areas.

Scott Mackison

Vice-Chairman/Building Committe

Scott Mackison is a native of Columbia but has been living in Maytown for the last 20 years. He lives there with his wife Colleen and son Jered. His daughter Morgan resides in Marietta. Scott has been the “behind the scenes” guy at Susquehanna Stage for many years. He is employed by Frey Lutz Corp as a plumber/ pipefitter and a proud veteran having served in the Air Force.

Julia Tighe Howey

Treasurer/Marketing Co-Chair

Julia is a Philadelphia native with a degree in Business, Marketing & Music Business and Technology. She currently manages the federal & private loan programs at Millersville University and is working on her Master’s in Higher Education Administration and Management. Julia has been involved with theatre onstage and behind the scenes for over 20 years and is excited to work with Susquehanna Stage toward expanding the future of community theatre in Marietta.

Asher Johnson

Board Member/Marketing Committee

Asher Johnson is a Marietta native and a recent graduate from Penn State Harrisburg with a major in Communications and a minor in Theatre. Asher recently completed a marketing internship with People’s Light, in Malvern PA and current;y volunteers his time on Susquehanna Stage’s Marketing and Production committees. He enjoys directing and has worked on multiple productions for the theatre on and off the stage.

Liz Garner

Board Member/Fundraising Committee

Liz is a long-time resident of Marietta where she lives with her husband and three children. Liz graduated from Millersville University with a degree in history and worked as an Archivist at the Pennsylvania State Archives before she transitioned into a full time stay at home mom. Liz appreciates the importance of the Susquehanna Stage to the Marietta community and hopes that the theater will have a role in encouraging economic and cultural growth in Marietta.

Jonathan Shirey

Board Member /Fundraising Committee

Jonathan is a Maytown native, now living in Landisville with his wife and three children. He received his doctorate in medicine from Georgetown University and practices Anesthesiology in the Harrisburg/Lancaster area as a partner in Riverside Anesthesia Associates. He has been active in the performing arts, performing in various roles for the past 20 years, a number of which have also been with Susquehanna Stage. He is committed to ensuring a continued and developing culture for the arts in the local area.


Jim Johnson

Artistic Director

Jim Johnson is the founding member Artistic Director and responsible for more than 50 productions at the Susquehanna Stage Co. Jim is a proud alumni of Penn State University, holding a Master’s Degree in Humanities. By day, Jim coordinates daily living and activities for the elderly residents living with dementia at St. Anne’s Retirement Community in Columbia. Jim is a 5th generation Marietta resident, living within easy walking distance of the theater, with his wife of thirty years, Jacquee and dog Joepa. Jim has directed and performed for most of his life at regional theaters, universities and community theaters throughout Pennsylvania and worked for two years at the Utah Shakespeare Festival.

Beth Gable

Administrative Director/Personnel Committee

Beth has worked as the Administrative Secretary for the IT & Budget Services department of the Lancaster County government for several years. She lives in Mount Joy with her husband Kent and two greyhounds. She has been in many shows at Susquehanna Stage, her two favorites being Godspell and Crimes of the Heart.

Jason Spickler

Technical Director

Jason is a founding member of the Susquehanna Stage, having served in almost every facet of the organization from administrator, to actor and technician, to director. In his spare time he enjoys buying and selling antiques and collectibles and is the music director at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Marietta. Jason currently fills the role of Technical Director for the company and is looking forward to being part of the renovation and revitalization of the new “downtown” home of Susquehanna Stage!
